Streamer

System specifications are sometimes difficult to understand. We know that countless people want to stream, but don’t know if their device is good enough. We understand the struggles of trying to work out if you can play your favourite game and stream at the same time, or wanting to play a game with your community but not having the pc power to do so. What will we do about it? We’re going to summarise the recommended specs for streaming on different software, and recommend PC’s that could be used for gaming and streaming. We will be writing about streaming and gaming on the same device, or streaming off your Xbox, PlayStation on Nintendo switch using a capture card. However you are streaming, a stable internet connection is necessary. If you struggle with high ping while streaming, check out this post about how to lower your ping while streaming. We may receive a small compensation for sales, however that does not influence our recommendations at all.

How to check your system specs?

Checking your system specs is pretty simple, you just open task manager by searching for it, or pressing ‘Ctrl + Shift + Esc.’ When it is open, press ‘More details,’ and go to the performance tab. Once you are there, you will see your system specs. Alternatively, you could go to this website, and use the ‘test my pc’ function.

What System Specifications do you need to stream and play on one PC?

This is a very arguable matter, should you have 4 or 6 cores? 8GB or 16GB of RAM? Well, it really depends on what you will be playing, so we will tell you the minimum and recommended specs.

Minimum specs for streaming on Twitch, Youtube or Facebook

CPU - Intel Core i5-4670 at 3.4GHz – 4 cores, 4 threads / the AMD equivalent

RAM - 8GB, any speed. However, this will limit your gameplay so we strongly recommend 16 GB.

GPU – Any GPU which is compatible with DirectX 10.

We recommend 16GB of RAM because you may experience quality issues with gameplay and stream quality. 16GB of RAM gives some leeway for using the PC for other things while gaming and streaming.

What system specs do you need to stream with a capture card?

Elgato Capture Card

Luckily, streaming via a capture card requires a less demanding system, so the Minimum and Recommended will be the same. USB 3.0 is recommended if you have a USB capture card to provide high speed transfer, so that your gameplay isn’t too delayed getting to your viewers. If you’re looking to buy a USB capture card, we recommend the Elgato game capture HD60 S, due to its high-speed transfer and 1080p, 60fps video quality.

CPU – Quad core CPU

RAM – 8GB will work fine if you aren’t playing games on the PC.

GPU – Any GPU which is compatible with DirectX 10.

We recommend 16GB of RAM because you may experience quality issues with gameplay and stream quality. 16GB of RAM gives some leeway for using the PC for other things while gaming and streaming.

And there you have it, those are the recommended specs for streaming on twitch, Youtube or Facebook. We have recommended good PC’s for streaming to save you the effort of researching! If this has helped you, make sure you share with your friends so that they won’t struggle for any longer, and follow @streamingsorted on social media for updates on new posts.
